Thanks to all the hard work behind the scenes in Athletics Australia Sean Dixon shared some great news today... opening the next chapter for racerunning in Australia.
As I am sure that you have come across or aware of Race Running and the fact that it will be incorporated into Para – Athletics.
I can confirm that Athletics Australia will recognise CPISRA’s Race Running Classifications of RR1, RR2 and RR3 nationally. These three new classes will be recognised nationally from Monday March 30, 2020. The world record times will be added to the Multi Class Standards by this time to allow for all meets after this date to have these new classes to compete in Multi-Class.
Due to this being a new space for everyone and the training required to do Race Running, this class will only apply to 100m. In the document attached, you will see that the only official times that exist are for 100m.
For classification opportunities in Race Running, athletes will be able to attend their National Classification to obtain a Race Running Classification but will not be able to race under this new class until March 30, 2020. The upcoming National Classification Opportunities now are –
Saturday February 29 – Melbourne
Thursday March 5 – Brisbane
Saturday March 21 - Sydney
Sunday March 22 – Sydney
Wednesday March 25 – Sydney
The same process will continue for Provisional Classifications.
To obtain International classification they will need to attend the following dates –
Circuito Brasil Loterias Caixa 2020 - First National Stage (Classification: 27 – 29 April,
Competition: 30 April - 2 May)
CPISRA International Cup 2020 – RaceRunning (Classification: 5 – 7 July,
Competition: 9 – 11 July)
Additional opportunities may arise during the season, and therefore please contact myself for National Classification or CPISRA (craig.carscadden@cpisra
.org) for further information on International Classification.
If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact me.
